Behind The Scenes with Flair !
Modeling in the Flair Magazine
// Je m'en excuse mais cet article est trop long pour traduire en FR et en NL. Il ya un moment que Google Translate étais mon meilleur ami, indice! =)
// Mijn excuses maar deze post is veel te lang om in het NL en FR te vertalen. Ooit was Google Translate mijn beste vriend, hint! =)
Guyss!!!! My face is in the magazine of Flair!!! – Wow hold on for a sec, since when is this girl doing the magazines?! Just wait until she’s doing the covers too haahha, kidding (or not). =)
The day I got an email (and a text msg because this girls again was way too busy to check her mails) with the question if I wanted to model for the magazine, I was surprised and had a big smile on my face?! (I was at work, couldn’t resist my excitement and told my colleagues hahaha) And duuaahh, of course I had to say yes!!!
What you need to know about Flair is that it is a well-known Flemish women magazine that appears weekly in Belgium since 1980. Flair is aimed at women between the ages of 15 and 34 and the main themes of Flair are: fashion, beauty, health, sexuality, relationships and psychology.
Some readers ask questions about fashion like for example ‘my question’ was: How to wear a T-shirt on a creative/original way? I was very happy when I got to know that I would model in my favorite fashion item – the T-shirt! And it is obvious that I was the perfect (hummn!) model for the fashion category. =)
So Catherine Kosters (the beautiful lady with the red fringe hairstyle) who works for Flair (fashion editor and columnist) contacted me to arrange an appointment. Fun to know is that Catherine is the sister of a friend/classmate of mine, Eveline (Hello gurl!). The shoot took place in Antwerp, at the Sanoma Studio. When I arrived, two other models (for different questions) were busy doing their shoot and make up. I was blown away, thankful and all happy (damn I can’t describe this feeling!) because this was my first time doing this and live. I have always seen models getting ready for their shoots on tv or on the internet but this time it was me, playing model with her own MUA (Make Up Artist, for the ones that didn’t know what mua stands for, you’re welcome!), photographer and a personal STYLIST!!! That was the only person I was so excited about hahahaha, no but really, Iv always been my own personal stylist so this really was fun for me! (Continue reading for more about my thoughts about the looks).
Because the other girls were doing their shoot, I had to wait. In the meantime, I got asked if I wanted something to eat and I choose for yoghurt, was delicious by the way! I also took a before picture, where I looked all crusty and simple (please take a look of that face ahhaahaha). After that I tried on the three outfits that the stylist had picked for me. Catherine had told me that they were going to style me, and take into account my personal style and the stylist really did a great job!! First look - love! Idem for the second and last one! Want to know what my fave was? To be honest all of them were nice! But I think that the first one with the khaki trousers was my fave. Ahhhh it’s hard to pick one – WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOOK (it's obvious that you have to buy the magazine to check those nice oufies out!) and which look would you go for? And HOW DO YOU LIKE TO WEAR YOUR T-SHIRT?
After the fittings it was time for make-up! You can read all what they used in the magazine for the simple look. And then – shoooot! It was really fun; I was comfortable and shy at the same time. The photographer helped me with the poses and Catherine was watching and both were giving me compliments and all, so sweet! This is definitely an experience I want to do again in my life! Thank You God =)
I was at the studio for 3 hours, everything went well, and I had a nice day and I just want to thank everyone from that day (even the taxi driver that took a very long way to arrive at the studio while talking about how we’re supposed to support each other in our community, very interesting)! Thank you Catherine for being so kind, your welcoming and you professionalism, thank you Isolde Roels for your gentle hands that painted my face from a “???!!!-look” into a sweet look, thank you Liza Babylon for the fun tshirt looks, for your help zipping my dress and thank you Leen Van den Meutter for the pictures! - The whole Flair team was just perfect! I also want to thank everyone who helped me with the backstage pictures hihi! =)
