A Weekend Trip to London - Part 2

Eating and shopping in Oxford Street

l1 1037x

If you can't remember what Part 1 was all about, here you can read it.

So after our non-breakfast morning (at LFWF) we went to OXFORD STREET for some shopping, but first food! This was at NANDO’S of course (after a long 15min of walk as lost tourists and asking random people where it was…). Our first time eating there, we don’t really had any expectations. We just wanted to eat good food! Sandra had a chicken hamburger with fries and drank fanta, Alice had pita chicken, drank water and I got a ¼ chicken with rice and drank coke. My portion was ok (my plate (or better, our plates) looked very empty ahhaha) – the chicken was AMAZING!!! The best chicken I’ve eaten in a restaurant I think, no joke! Argh now thinking about it, I want to go back only for the chicken – A good cooked CHICKEN IS LIFE!!! We had a nice time there, chatting about LFWF and in which shops we absolutely wanted to go to…. Cozy! After lunch we went shopping, yeaayyh!

First stop was The Body Shop. So we entered, been welcomed by nice ladies in black, explaining the 20 for 3 promotion; £20 for 3 products. We bought some creams for our friends and customized our packages. It was fun! I took the creams almond, strawberry and olive for my mum and sisters.
After that we went to Forever 21. I think we got out of the store for like 2 long hours later haahaha - that store is very interesting! But guess what, I only bought a t-shirt!! A nice mustard yellow t-shirt! I’m so picky I know but right now I’m sadly thinking about that gorgeous black skirt I didn’t buy hahah!
We also went to candy land aka American Candy, where the shopkeepers wanted to strike a pose with me ahahaha (see pictures). Anyway, I ended up buying myself a very needed charging adaptor and then we met up with Lorraine (@lorraine_kang). Lorraine, Alice and Sandra were friends since a young age but her move to England didn’t separate them. We met at the Topshop store, where a cool thing was going on: the mannequins in the decor were real and cat walking! We need such great ideas in BE, it was fun to watch! :)

We sat in a pub for an hour (charging my phone haha) and then we decide to go eat something. Hungry girls that didn’t really knew what they wanted to eat, stepped randomly into an Lebanese/Iraqi restaurant 'Al Dar' and got a nice table for four! We got served by a man that was doing everything to get Lorraines attention and number hahaha! We really had a nice time! A lot of hard laughs, good food, fun and good vibes! =D
That was our last night there.

The next day we also had to wake up very early to go to church, that was 2 hours way too far from the Airbnb (East Croydon). But we managed to arrive there! The service was nice and I was really happy to go to church somewhere in London and meet Reverend Ruth again.

In the overal, that weekend just didn’t go all perfect (struggling with the uncharged phone, Oyster transport card, Google Maps…) but I loved traveling to London! London is a very beautiful city, I was amazed by the beautiful clean train stops … I would like to go back and I will definitely do! Wondering which city I’ll be visiting next! :)

Am VERY EXCITEEEEED !!!!! A lot of cool events are coming up and yowwww I can not wait ! :) I love this kind of season! This makes me think about and reflect on my first ever collaboration with Zalando last year – waaww still amazed! You may think that I am exaggerating but the smile on my face rightnow, … God is amazing! =D

At this moment, I feel like I am more motivated, more interested about life (??) and damn I am inspired!!!! And trust me, you also will be because this coming Saturday 14/10 there is a great event: TELL YOUR STORY! Beautiful African women are invited by HISHI to inspire other young, talented, gorgeous, powerful (and all the other beautiful adjectives) women!
I am one of the invites for the panel and to be honest I am a little little little nervous. Comparing (what I should not) to the others I feel like I am not interesting enough for you but hey, POSITIVE ENERGY: I am one of a kind and I know that I am here in the world for a certain purpose. And Saturday, I will share my story that is enough for me and I really really hope that I can inspire you, to be a perfect SUNLIGHT, just enough as you are! Gossshhh I am so thankful! Just wanna thank you again Sandra (@afrospolitain) for your phone call that made me happy that day (you know)! Can’t wait to see you all on Saturday my beautiful Sunnies!

PS: Don’t forget to register for the event! This is the link.

Other (fashion) events I am excited about and planning to attend:
- DS Brussels Fashion Days: 20-22/10
- Ethno-Tendance  Fashion Week Brussels: 27-29/10
- African culture and fashion show 2017: 3/11
- Pre-opening of Lussie’s Style: 19/11

A Weekend Trip To London - Part 1

London Fashion Week Festival

lo38

Hey hey !! How is you doing ? :) As I mentioned on Instagram, two weekends ago (22-24/9) I was in London and this is the first part of the post about it. I don’t know how long this post will be but I will do my best to keep it pleasant (short) to read. :)

So basically (read this with your best British accent ever haha) my friend (Alice) and I decided last minute to go on a trip. Because of our busy schedules we managed to find a weekend that was ok for both of us. Her cousin Sandra also wanted to come so yeah why not? Train tickets booked, 2 more weeks to go, exciteeeed! :)

D-day, Friday 22/9. We met at the train station after work. Is it necessary to mention that I almost missed my train … ? Well, you haven’t heard/read the worst yet hahahah …
Anyways, I met Sandra for the first time in the train! My first impression – a beautiful, sweet and intelligent  girl! She really is and she kind off was our Google Maps during the weekend! Thank you for everything hun! :)  Two hours long in the train chatting about our lives, our opinions, the underwater train, what we gonna do, how our Airbnb (host) will be,  … etc. We arrived around 2100 in London, Saint-Pancras.
When out of the train, all in smiles, I started vlogging. I didn’t have planned to vlog that’s why suddenly I started using my phone. Until we arrived at the Airbnb, wanted to charge the battery of my phone and realized that none of us had thought of bringing the British charger adaptor… Ohh well, there went the idea to vlog/snap everything of our weekend! I had my PC with me so I charged my phone with that and had just enough battery to film the next morning.

Saturday 23/9. LONDON FASHION WEEK FESTIVAL (LFWF) and SHOPPING!

That’s what we had planned to do that day. The LFWF (at 1030) was one hour away from our Airbnb so we had to wake up very early (around 700) for that and also just because we didn’t know exactly where it was hahaha. Thank God – Google Maps is the best!  We arrived on time, 945! Yes you haven’t read something about breakfast because until that time we haven’t had a proper breakfast! I drank coffee on the way though!

lo47
So arrived at the LFWF, I was happy and exciteeedd! I have always wanted to attend the LFW so with this opportunity to come to LFWF, I was happy and it was fine for me! I know that one day I will make it to the LFW, even the NFW, MFW and PFW (wwoow that’s huge what am saying here but yeah really I hope so, one day!). There was huuuge ligne at the entrance but we had a show earlier than 1200 so we could pass easily. Man I wish, I had vlogged! :)

We got in - friendly staff!! We had reserved seats at the front row and were all excited about what we would see. It started on time and I loved the simple outfit the host of the show had on! Then the show started! I had been to fashion shows before (here in Belgium) so this wasn’t my first. What for me the first time was (and still in shook), was attending THE SHORTEST FASHION SHOW EVER! Only one designer, like come on, where were all the rest? Still a beautiful one though but I mean, did I come straight from BE to L only for just one designer (Fyodor Golan)??!!! Anyway, the show was great and after that there were some activities in the building such as fashion stands, workshops, shops, etc. We received a designer bag (without goodies), all well organized! And some people were nicely dressed woauw, so much inspiration! :) What I loved the most about fashion in London is that a lot of people, most of them have their own style! Not everyone is walking around with the same Sam Smith / Nike sneaker or the same Zara clothing like I see a lot here in BE. We should all have our own style and dress properly!

lo26
After our non-breakfast morning we went to OXFORD STREET for some shopping, but first food! More about that (where we went for luch, what I bought, another person that became a friend, ...) in part two coming up soon :)

Behind The Scenes with Flair !

Modeling in the Flair Magazine

20170922 011111 2 692x

Ooit was Google Translate mijn beste vriend, hint! =)

Guyss!!!! My face is in the magazine of Flair!!! – Wow hold on for a sec, since when is this girl doing the magazines?! Just wait until she’s doing the covers too haahha, kidding (or not). =)

The day I got an email (and a text msg because this girls again was way too busy to check her mails) with the question if I wanted to model for the magazine, I was surprised and had a big smile on my face?! (I was at work, couldn’t resist my excitement and told my colleagues hahaha) And duuaahh, of course I had to say yes!!!

What you need to know about Flair is that it is a well-known Flemish women magazine that appears weekly in Belgium since 1980. Flair is aimed at women between the ages of 15 and 34 and the main themes of Flair are: fashion, beauty, health, sexuality, relationships and psychology.
Some readers ask questions about fashion like for example ‘my question’ was: How to wear a T-shirt on a creative/original way?  I was very happy when I got to know that I would model in my favorite fashion item – the T-shirt! And it is obvious that I was the perfect (hummn!) model for the fashion category. =)

So Catherine Kosters (the beautiful lady with the red fringe hairstyle) who works for Flair (fashion editor and columnist) contacted me to arrange an appointment. Fun to know is that Catherine is the sister of a friend/classmate of mine, Eveline (Hello gurl!). The shoot took place in Antwerp, at the Sanoma Studio.  When I arrived, two other models (for different questions) were busy doing their shoot and make up. I was blown away, thankful and all happy (damn I can’t describe this feeling!) because this was my first time doing this and live. I have always seen models getting ready for their shoots on tv or on the internet but this time it was me, playing model with her own MUA (Make Up Artist, for the ones that didn’t know what mua stands for, you’re welcome!), photographer and a personal STYLIST!!! That was the only person I was so excited about hahahaha, no but really, Iv always been my own personal stylist so this really was fun for me! (Continue reading for more about my thoughts about the looks).
Because the other girls were doing their shoot, I had to wait. In the meantime, I got asked if I wanted something to eat and I choose for yoghurt, was delicious by the way! I also took a before picture, where I looked all crusty and simple (please take a look of that face ahhaahaha). After that I tried on the three outfits that the stylist had picked for me. Catherine had told me that they were going to style me, and take into account my personal style and the stylist really did a great job!!  First look - love!  Idem for the second and last one! Want to know what my fave was? To be honest all of them were nice! But I think that the first one with the khaki trousers was my fave.  Ahhhh it’s hard to pick one – WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOOK (it's obvious that you have to buy the magazine to check those nice oufies out!) and which look would you go for? And HOW DO YOU LIKE TO WEAR YOUR T-SHIRT?

After the fittings it was time for make-up! You can read all what they used in the magazine for the simple look. And then – shoooot! It was really fun; I was comfortable and shy at the same time.  The photographer helped me with the poses and Catherine was watching and both were giving me compliments and all, so sweet! This is definitely an experience I want to do again in my life! Thank You God =)

I was at the studio for 3 hours, everything went well, and I had a nice day and I just want to thank everyone from that day (even the taxi driver that took a very long way to arrive at the studio while talking about how we’re supposed to support each other in our community, very interesting)! Thank you Catherine for being so kind, your welcoming and you professionalism, thank you Isolde Roels for your gentle hands that painted my face from a “???!!!-look”  into a sweet look, thank you Liza Babylon for the fun tshirt looks, for your help zipping my dress and thank you Leen Van den Meutter for the pictures! - The whole Flair team was just perfect! I also want to thank everyone who helped me with the backstage pictures hihi!  =)
